Finally Paul instructs the Cretans as to how they should be behaving in the wider world. Obeying the government is important but if they require Christians to sin then a line has to be drawn. In Britain we have the freedom to communicate with the government over how the country is run – how often to you write to your MP? If a person within the church doesn’t live in a Godly manner while claiming to be a Christian appropriate discipline is necessary, if they refuse to repent they are to be booted out!
