Jeremiah 29:11

A Few Thoughts On | Jeremiah 29:11 Ever had people say to you or heard prayed in church ‘God loves you and has a wonderful plan for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you’? Well this is the verse that they use. Funny how in Jeremiah there is another verse that God says to his people ‘I have a plan for you, a plan to whack you!’ (My paraphrase but you get the gist) Funny how the majority of people don’t go for that verse… Get ready to learn the context of the prophet Jeremy’s famous verse. And in the overall grand scheme of God’s gracious plan it was all to lead us to Jesus.

Money

A Few Thoughts On | Money Just what exactly does the bible and Jesus say about money? If you send off for a green prosperity handkerchief will you become rich? Will the big finger come out of the sky and point at you and say ‘It could be you’? Jesus spent a quarter of his time talking about money yet he was homeless, penniless and God! Lets see what the bible says about the thing that many believe makes the world go round. But oh they are wrong as that would be Jesus.

A Few Thoughts On
The Cost of Piracy

The Cost of Piracy This talk was delivered in 2007 at a Y-Friday gig at the Queens Theatre in Burslem, Stoke on Trent. Piracy is stealing. Downloading, bluetoothing, copying whatever way is wrong. Complete with facts and figures from the BPI (British Phonographic Society), FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft) and the Computer games industry this explains how it is sin against God and has a chronic effect down here too on people’s jobs and any industry or service that gets its funding via the taxation system. And yes we point it all to the main man from the bible, Jesus.

Fuel and Stoke

A Few Thoughts On | Fuel and Stoke The first petrol crisis (the price went bonkers for a litre of fuel) led to an e-mail landing that we should all buy petrol form one place to force the government to lower the price. This landed in my inbox from a Christian friend and it got me thinking. Are we more bothered about what we put in our cars than people in Stoke going to Hell when they die. What is a Christians first priority? Give you a clue. It should be Jesus and telling others about his gift of grace through his sacrifice on the cross. This was just recorded and put out a long time ago and is just worth a listen as Jesus is forever and not just for Christmas.

A Few Thoughts On
The Gospel

The word ‘Gospel’ means ‘Good News’. If anyone says to you ‘I have some good news for you’ you know that there is some bad news and in the case of the Gospel the bad news is that you freely choose to go to Hell for ever and there will pay for your sins (crimes) against God, if you refuse his gracious gift of salvation made possible by God, through his son Jesus being crucified in your place. All it takes is repentance and faith in Jesus. To find out more listen on. This talk was first delivered in a coffee shop one evening and to Jesus Church Stoke but the evening was not recorded and the file lost the 2nd time. So enjoy this presentation of the talk that started the whole ‘A few thoughts on…’ series off. Which ultimately leads us to scripture and Jesus.
