A Few Thoughts On
Earthquakes

With the tragedy in the news of the Haiti earthquake and all the news media filling our homes and minds with graphic images what does the bible and Jesus have to say about it? Why does God allow it to happen? Did God allow it to happen? Did God cause it to happen? And if he did then does that make him a horrible God? A lot of people are (and do daily for many reasons) shake their fists at God and Jesus for the ‘bad’ things in life but what does scripture and Jesus have to say, if anything, about this? Quite a lot. We are going to read through Matthew chapter 24 (and Luke 17 and 21) where Jesus specifically mentions that many earthquakes will happen in the future and that they are part of a series of signs for the world to take notice of, along with wars, nations against nations tsunamis and many other things. So listen in and see exactly what Jesus, a homeless, penniless, for all intents and purposes uneducated man from 2000 years ago had to say about this situation of earthquakes in out time. Jesus said all this with no international news networks and internet access. Just another ‘sign of the times’ that Jesus truly is God and that we need to listen to him and his amazing message of salvation from our sins that he made available by taking the wrath of God on himself so we can be forgiven.

A Few Thoughts On
Families

What does the bible say about families? Actually, a lot! To much to cover here in 70 minutes. But this is ‘A few thoughts on’ so here we get an overview of families in the bible and how we are to be families according to scripture today. From the first family, Adam and Eve, from which everyone on earth comes from (Oh yes they do). Through a lot of brutally honest portraits of not so great families in scripture (tells you this wasn’t a man made collection of books, we would have everyone looking and acting spangly!) right through to the fact that Jesus stepped down from heaven and trusted himself to a family for 30 years. Then Jesus started telling others about how we can be adopted into his eternal family. Ultimately families are Jesus’ idea, Jesus came and lived in a family and tells us to live as families and through Jesus we get to be in his eternal family in Heaven for ever.

A Few Thoughts On
Being ‘Devoted’

This week Billy was away working with Trinity Road Chapel Baptist Church in Wandsworth, London with the Pastor Doug McMasters and his team. Billy had a 2 day exhibition of his artwork and spent a good deal of time telling people who came in to view the art about Jesus. No bait and switch. It is all about Jesus anyway and Billy’s talk there titled ‘My Failures in Art’ showed how Jesus has been Billy’s Lord and Saviour through the good and a lot of bad times. There is a biographical talk from another show on Billy’s biog page on his art site. On Sunday evening, 22nd February 2009, Billy preached about being ‘Devoted’. We are all ‘Devoted’ to something, someone, somehow and it should be Jesus. Here from Acts 2v42 and 2 Timothy chapter 3 Billy shows how everyone is ‘Devoted’ in worship in their life to something. In a nutshell people are either devoted to damnation or Jesus. There really is only two sides to the coin and the best person to be devoted to is Jesus.
