The most significant weekend in history… Literally! Here Billy, pastor for preaching at Jesus Church Stoke, goes through the apostle John’s account of the Passover weekend where his Lord and Saviour paid the penalty for his, his friends, his communities, mine and your sins against God the father by being the penalty for us, taking the wrath of God on the cross in fulfilment of 1500 years of prophesies in the Old Testament. This is the whole reason for the ‘Scarlet Thread’ sermon series by Billy. It really and truly is all about Jesus. Without Jesus’ sacrifice we deserve the punishment that was laid upon him and we will duly get the Wrath of God poured out upon us for eternity in his jail which is Hell. But Jesus took the punishment in our place so that should we repent, turn from our sin, put our faith and trust in Jesus as the only saviour and way to heaven we get Amazing Grace. It is all about Jesus.

To see how amazing Jesus really is as the God of the universe, we will discover that he didn’t exactly choose the nicest, noblest, cleanest, honest or sin free family line to come from. If this was a human made up book about a ‘holy’ God you wouldn’t have put this bunch of losers and wingnuts in as your ancestors. This is just how amazing Jesus is. Despite and inspite of our sins Jesus still chose to come as a baby in human history, live the life we could not live and died the death we all deserve to die. All this to save us. Jesus, the real reason for the season with the greatest gift ever given to anyone.
