30. Obediently Completing

Bez, Olli and the crew finish making all the bits and pieces of the tabernacle. Today especially the priestly garments. Ever think that people were thick and unskilled in history? Think again, we are stupid in comparison. And it all is to point to point to Jesus. The real big theme is they ‘Obeyed all the Lord Commanded’. Do you? Here we discover how because of God’s grace they finished the work and how Jesus finished his work and we are to obey all that he commands. Especially the command to REPENT! And to live as the Israelites were to live for the sake of the glorious gospel of Jesus.

29. More Making!

The guys and girls get on with the making and manufacturing of the Tabernacle because of Jesus’ grace and forgiveness. To show the world about Jesus’ grace and forgiveness. Sometimes a job can take a while and isn’t complete in twenty seconds. You have to give the rest of your life to serve Jesus. Jesus’ sacrifice really is worth it and following him and serving him it isn’t easy but it is beautiful.

28. Moving On And Making

The people get busy! They give, serve, make and move on out. God is with them again after they had sinned and been cast out! What a beautiful thing redemption and forgiveness of sins by Jesus really is. The people in Israel make the meeting place between God and man in the wilderness and countless thousands of Christians since have done the same when God gives them a new heart because of Jesus. A people willing to serve God and each other, not to make a building – the tabernacle was a pointer to Jesus, but to make a life that shows others how grateful we are to Jesus for his grace and through history we have seen countless millions of Christians change the world, because of Jesus’ grace, in big and small ways. Be it a cleaner in a toilet cubicle, a clerk at a counter or a King in a country. They did it all because they understood Jesus’ amazing grace.

27. Let’s Try Again Shall We?

The God of grace and mercy starts again with the Israelites. And goes through everything again because they, like us, are stupid and need telling at least twice (probably more). Mo goes back up the mountain for two more tablets (he broke the first) and God walks past him PREACHING his own biography. AWESOME GOD. And the people get full on in service and obedience. It is amazing what happens when people repent because of justice, mercy and grace. They get a heart to love, follow and serve Jesus.

26. Oops!

The Israelites are told to ‘GO’ and God isn’t going with them. Oh did they drop a clanger! You really do reap what you sow. Easy believeism wasn’t ok back then and it isn’t ok right now with Jesus. You can’t just ‘say a prayer’ and you are in. If it was that easy, and easy believeism was ok then, then why the fight to the death in Egypt, the institution of the animal sacrificial system with all the blood and why the Son of God going to his death in a very brutal and nasty way. Why not just ‘I am a God of love, love, love, love and everyone is in’ There has to be remorse for sin and true repentance for offending God with our sin and then there is forgiveness and grace available and a new start. Here Mo prays for the people and sees again the amazing God of grace even though they, and we, don’t deserve it. We deserve his justice which is Hell. But get Jesus’ sacrifice which is grace.

25. Not All Parties Are Good

Meanwhile away from Mo on the mountain with God… The people are rising up to play… and it isn’t scrabble! They prove that possibly a Goldfish has a longer memory than humans. This is ‘The Golden Calf’ incident. Not everyone who left Egypt was a repentant thankful believer in Jesus. Some were just along for the ride thinking that they were on the road to easy street and not to Mount God! And they caused trouble. You, just like them, worship something. If it isn’t Jesus it is something else and is Idolatry and will get you into a lot of trouble with God. Remember the 10 BIG ONES. Number 2 ‘Don’t make an idol’… Isn’t it easy how simple it is to go along with the crowd than stand up and say ‘NO’. Aaron wimps out and goes along with the crowd while Big Bro Mo is up on the mountain… Which is where God tells him that all is not well down on the plain. And he casts them off for not obeying their part of the covenant.

24. Prayer, Procedures and Praise

Mo gets the directions for more bits for the Tabernacle. Which again point us to Jesus and why we pray to God the Father, through God the Son by God the Holy Spirit. It is all because of his grace. There are procedures to follow as God has rules and an order for things, just like there are procedures to follow in daily life, and consequences if we don’t follow them. Here we find out how Nadab and Abihu become toast, literally, for not obeying God’s procedures. God tells Mo that he has chosen two guys, Bez and Olli, to head up the making and construction and given them the required abilities, along with others, to make everything He specified. Ever thought where all your abilities come from? Yep you guessed it, Jesus. And because of all this and his amazing grace, the Israelites were to praise Him for their release, and we praise Jesus for ours.

23. Consecration Of The Priests… For Jesus!

It gets a little bit messy and Aaron and Co get some groovy gear. But it aint all bling… It is all to point to, yes you’ve guessed it, JESUS. The priests were to be cleansed as sin can’t be in God’s presence and guess what they were cleansed with… BLOOD. Yes God is trying to get a message through that our sin made (and makes) a bloody mess and only through the shedding of blood can it be redeemed. Ultimately it is Jesus’ blood that sorts us all out if we repent, turn away from our stupid sin and put our faith in Jesus that he will save us with his amazing gift of grace. The priests here get the gear and the commands on how to serve the people by shedding the blood of animals to show how costly their sin, and ours, is. Finally paid for in Jesus’ body on the flogging post and cross when he came to serve us.

22. The Tabernacle… It’s All About Jesus

Mo on the Mountain with God gets the instructions for the meeting place of the Covenant between God and Man – The Tabernacle. This is not a portable Cathedral it is a great big pointer to JESUS. Everything inside it is to point to God’s amazing gift of grace and to prime Israel for the ultimate forgiveness of sins through JESUS. Every little bit in the tabernacle was to give them a memory to pass on to their children to give them some big clues for when JESUS turned up.
