What We Believe

1. Scripture
We believe the Bible (the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament) to be the inspired Word of God; consistent, authoritative, inerrant and sufficient, profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness and in all matters of faith, doctrine and conduct.

2. The Godhead
We believe in the one and only, holy, loving, true and living God who exists in three eternal persons, co-equal in power and glory; the Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit.

3. Jesus
We believe that Jesus is the eternal Son of God, both fully God and fully human, the sinless God-man, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. We believe that Jesus was sent as the full revelation of God to show God’s love for mankind, in that while we were still sinners, Jesus died on the cross as the propitiation for our sins to remove the wrath of God that we all deserve. We believe that Jesus was literally, physically and bodily resurrected from the dead and is now ruling and reigning over heaven and earth at the right hand of the Father, from where he will return to judge all of mankind and renew His creation. All as promised in the Old Testament Scriptures and as attested to by the eyewitness of the historical events recorded in the New Testament.

4. The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts the world concerning sin, of righteousness and of judgement and who’s indwelling presence in all believers is necessary to make the sacrificial and loving work of Jesus effective to the lives of sinful believers. We believe that the Holy Spirit is instrumental in effecting conversion and that He is the supernatural agent of baptism into the body of Christ, the instrument of sanctification and the seal of salvation until the day of Jesus’ return.

5. The Sovereignty of God
We believe that God is sovereign over all things, including; the loving and gracious election of believers for salvation, creation, the revelation and preservation of His Word and in all His dealings with mankind, past, present and future as recorded in the Bible.

6. Creation
We believe that God created the universe, the earth and all the beings therein in six literal twenty-four hour days as attested to, not only in the creation accounts of Genesis but throughout the Bible and thus believe any alternatives, such as evolution, to be erroneous, inconsistent with Scripture and incompatible with the gospel of Jesus.

7. Mankind
We believe that mankind was created, both male and female, in the image and likeness of God and that accordingly all human life is a precious gift from a loving Creator – including the lives of unborn babies, the infirm and the elderly. We believe that while God’s creation was perfect in the beginning, sin entered the human race through Adam and subsequently all mankind’s lawbreaking (unbelief, idolatry, blasphemy, lying, stealing, coveting, dishonouring parents, murder, hatred, adultery, lusting, immorality) has separated them from God and rendered them guilty before Him. Accordingly Jesus will eternally punish all in hell unless they have been saved by means of Jesus’ blood through His loving, sacrificial and atoning death.

8. Salvation
We believe that salvation is only available through Jesus and that all other religions and worldviews are false teachings propagated by Satan that lead their followers away from the Truth. We believe that justification (concerning our legal standing as sinful people before a holy God) is necessary for salvation and this is only attained by grace alone (undeserved and ill-deserved favour), through faith alone, in Jesus alone. Salvation is as an act of God’s loving mercy by which sinful people may be both pardoned of their sins and imputed with the righteousness of God through the loving, sacrificial, once for all time death of Jesus as their representative and penal substitute (proven by Jesus’ resurrection). We believe that once God has saved someone, their redemption is kept forever secure in Christ by the love and power of God who enables all who are redeemed to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation.

9. The Church
We believe that the church is the spiritual organisation of all believers to demonstrate God’s love to the world through the preaching and living-out of the gospel of Jesus. Wherein they may worship God, grow in sanctification, practice spiritual gifts, church discipline and take part in the Lord’s Supper. The church is the means through which believers should be held accountable and the channel through which, if necessary, appropriate discipline should be practised to ensure the integrity of all those who are born-again and members of Jesus’ church.

10. The End
We believe that on a day unknown to anyone (other than God!), Jesus will return in glory to judge all mankind as foretold in the Bible. We believe that on this day Jesus will save believers to share in His glory forever, as promised in Scripture, as the final consummation of God’s loving and gracious plan of salvation and that all non-believers will be eternally condemned to hell as the just punishment for their sins.
